Bella Unión
Bella Unión, the capital of the Artigas department, is Uruguay's northernmost city, located at the tri-border between Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil, at the confluence of the Uruguay and Cuareim rivers.
Known as the "National Capital of Panela" (unrefined cane sugar), it is the heart of Uruguay's sugar cane industry. Its economy is based on sugar cane, horticulture, free shops, and border tourism. Its proximity to Monte Caseros (AR) and Barra do Quaraí (BR) makes it a strategic point for trade and cultural exchange.
Bella Unión offers beaches on the Uruguay River, boat excursions, sport fishing, and rich natural heritage. The Municipal Beach is one of the main attractions, ideal for relaxation and water sports.
