Monte Caseros
Monte Caseros, known as "the city with open arms," amazes with its broad historic streets laid out since its founding in 1829. Its railway heritage shines through landmarks such as the Estación del Este (now a museum), the Italian Society, and the Tiro Federal—each bearing witness to the city's cultural and architectural growth.
On the banks of the Uruguay River, Monte Caseros features about 6 km of beaches, stretching from Puerto Ceibo to La Cahuera, complete with showers, grills, restrooms, and security. It's perfect for family activities, outdoor sports, and sport fishing, and serves as a jumping-off point for boat excursions to nearby islands and the tri-border area with Uruguay and Brazil.
The Artisan Carnival, held at the "Paso de los Higos" carnival grandstand, is the city's summer highlight. Traditional groups like Orfeo, Carún Berá, and Unasam, along with children's troupes, present a vibrant showcase of textiles, music, and tradition that draws thousands every year.
Opened in 2014 along the river, the Thermal Water Park offers three hot-water pools (30-39 °C): one semi-Olympic indoor pool and children's areas, all with changing rooms and green spaces, making it a year-round option. Along with monuments like the Stone Tank, the Iron Cross, and the large mural in Paseo del Este, the city also offers a pleasant cultural and recreational stroll.
